How Therapy can Help:
The situation that is causing your depression is unique to you. You have your own set of memories, experiences, traumas, emotions, and responses to the world around you. That’s why there is no exact process with depression and how therapy works. Your therapy will be individualized to your individual needs and wishes.
With this in mind, there are some things you can expect from your counselor. First, you will be given a counselor who has specialized trauma training that can help you most of all. Once you have a counselor to work with, you will discuss your personal situation and make a plan. Your counselor will set goals and figure out what’s causing your depression so you can pinpoint solutions to address those causes. This is why depression therapy is so effective, because it gets to the root of what may be causing your depression.
